Lighthouse’s French department has specialist French-English bilingual classes from CP to CM2, our qualified and passionate teachers offer flexible teaching adapted to each student, in accordance with the National Education. The aim is mastery of both languages whilst completing the curriculum and aiming for top grades.

Our French Department at Lighthouse Phuket is headed by bilingual Jean de La Fontaine. We have small dedicated classes with a maximum of 12 students.

Julien Bliècq Initially trained as a chemical engineer, Julien first passed on his passion for science by leading scientific holiday stays before ensuring their design and organisation in France and abroad for the benefit of more than 6,000 children who experience each year the richness and virtues of these collective times lived

We currently have 3 dedicated French teachers and 2 English teachers. They are experienced native speakers having taught in multicultural schools.

The core subjects of French and English Language are fully covered other subjects include (history, geography, maths, etc. Our bilingual program aims for teaching to be provided 60 percent in French and 40 percent in English.

The Lighthouse French Bi Lingual program goes further than the National Education curriculum. The key emphasis is creative learning. It’s a unique opportunity to offer excellent linguistic tools to develop clear spoken words and understand text to a much greater depth. We limit “closed activities” and restrictive instuctions which we believe hinder longer term ability.
English
Language: 100% in English
Students quickly acquire command of the English language with a fluent and natural practice of the language, both orally and in writing, using an action-oriented approach that places the student in concrete, fun and stimulating educational environment.
Mathematics
Language: 100% in French
Students will complete the National Education program and discover the first elements of the upper classes. Our approach to mathematics is varied, interdisciplinary & fun. and practical contexts.
History
Language: 50 / 50 bilingual Eng Fre
The class covers Global history with a strong influence of the history of France and its notable people. Some Canadian history is added to the course. The main ethos is fun, engaging study with stories about people, places, and events that are told in a way that captures their imagination. Specific individuals for example Napoleon Bonaparte, Cleopatra & Jacques Cartier a French explorer who in 1534 paved the way for settlemement in Canada. We depict their adventures, struggles, and triumphs. Student engage in crafts and projects whilst incorporating multicultural perspectives.
Geography
Language: 50 / 50 bilingual Eng Fre
Interactive maps and digital tools like Google Earth first with familiar places; home, school, Phuket island, and then expand to province, country, and world maps. Country of the week focus and flags with immersive cultural study. We incorporate creativity by build iconic models and planets. We teach things that relate to everyday life such as the water cycle, weather patterns. We connect geography with biology by exploring the natural habitats of animals in different regions of the world.
Science & Sociology
Language: 50 / 50 bilingual Eng Fre
We aim to instill an awareness and curiosity. Student learn to give a personal point of view, to carry out research and to cross-reference information. The science experiments give meaning to events and references to real life. They learn a scientific approach and how to conduct experiments.
Physical and Sports Education (PE)
Language: 100% French
We aim to instill an awareness and curiosity. Student learn to give a personal point of view, to carry out research and to cross-reference information. The science experiments give meaning to events and references to real life. They learn a scientific approach and how to conduct experiments.
Art & Music
Language: 100% English
Very strong creative approach. Themed projects for an exciting discovery and understanding of successful production of loved pieces of artwork integrating the notions of teamwork, consultation and consensus.
